Greetings of the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
on the Occasion of the Knowledge Day
Dear pupils and teachers, students and lecturers, parents and organizers of education!
I send my sincere greetings on the occasion of the Knowledge Day and the beginning of a new academic year.
The holiday of the 1st September launches a busy and laborious, though an exciting and agitating academic year of special social and national importance. It is closely connected with new undertakings and opportunities, search and experiments, the joy of discoveries and implementation of audacious ideas, first victories and vital belief in future.
Ukrainian school has always fulfilled its social mission with dignity, successfully combining education and upbringing, the two determinants that make an individual a Person, a Citizen, a Patriot. Glorious traditions of education last in the transfer of quality knowledge, spiritual enrichment, development of national conscience and dignity, love for the native language and folk traditions. However, a lot must be still done to transform these existential fundamentals into the actual priorities of the State policy.
The present-day reality increases this vital demand and requires immediate and decisive actions to prevent the threat of the moral crisis, the consequences of which can be destructive. The modern generation of pupils and students will have to open new chapters of the national progress and development.
I wish you peace, welfare, creative inspiration, new achievements, complete implementation of all intentions and plans, generous and bright future, steadfast belief into the glorious prospects of Ukraine.
